What’s the age requirement to get pierced?

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Ear Lobe Piercings: I offer ear lobe piercings for children 4 years and older. If you have a child younger than 4 that you are looking to have pierced, please reach out to discuss options.

  • Body Piercings: You must be 16 or older. According to Wisconsin statute SPS 221.10, no one under 16 may get a body piercing.

  • Nipple Piercings: You must be 18 or older — no exceptions.

What do I need to bring to get pierced?

If you're 18 or older:
You’ll need to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as:

  • State ID

  • Driver’s License

  • Passport

  • Military ID

Note: The ID must be current, and cannot be clipped, voided, or stamped.
If you have a Wisconsin paper ID, it must include a photo, receipt, and DMV stamp.

Can I use my chosen name?
Absolutely! I fully support and respect chosen names.
However, your ID must show your legal name, as required by law. If you're under 18, keep reading for the additional rules.

If you're under 18:

  • You must be accompanied by your legal guardian, who needs to bring a valid photo ID.

  • You (the minor) must also have a photo ID — a school ID works!

  • If your guardian has a different last name, you'll need your original birth certificate (no copies or photos).

  • All documents must show matching legal names. If your guardian or you have changed your name (due to marriage, divorce, etc.), you'll need additional paperwork (like a name change decree or marriage certificate).

Not sure what to bring?
Feel free to reach out to me ahead of time! I’m happy to help you get everything ready.

Can I return jewelry?

All jewelry sales are final. For health and safety reasons, once jewelry leaves the studio, it’s considered potentially contaminated and can’t be returned or exchanged.

I take safety seriously — this policy is in place to protect everyone. If you're not happy with your purchase, please reach out, and I’ll do my best to help however I can!

Can I Bring a Guest to My Appointment?

I know getting a new piercing is exciting, and you might want to bring someone along to share the experience! You can bring a guest, but please keep in mind that the studio is small. Just be mindful of the space and considerate of other clients who may be here for their own appointments. Thanks for helping keep things comfortable for everyone!

Do you offer a jewelry warranty?

Yes! All jewelry purchased at Muse Piercing Studio comes with a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty.

The expected lifespan of the jewelry is around 2 years, and the warranty covers manufacturer defects only, such as a pin breaking or a gem falling out of its setting.

What’s not covered:

  • Loss of jewelry

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Damage from improper use (like cutting, altering, or using tools on the jewelry)

To use the warranty:

  • You’ll need to bring the original jewelry into Muse Piercing Studio

  • Proof of purchase is required

  • The warranty is void if the piece has been misused or altered in any way

If you're unsure whether your jewelry issue qualifies, just reach out! I'm happy to help however I can.

Can I bring my own jewelry?

Unfortunately, I can’t accept outside jewelry for safety reasons. To make sure your piercing heals properly, I need to guarantee that the jewelry is made from safe materials, is sterile, and free from any scratches or contamination.

The good news? I have a great selection of high-quality jewelry, and I’ll be happy to help you find the perfect piece for your new piercing!

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, it’s best to make an appointment! Since it’s just me running the show, I can’t always guarantee availability without one — and I fill up fast. You can book online using the link or call to check if I have any same-day openings.

Walk-ins aren’t always an option, so booking ahead is the safest bet, especially if you're coming from far away!

Can I switch to a hoop (ring)?

Of course! Once your piercing is fully healed, you can definitely switch to a hoop. Healing times can vary from person to person and piercing to piercing, so I usually recommend waiting at least 6 months (or longer) before making the switch.

And just a heads-up — just because it doesn’t hurt anymore doesn’t mean it’s fully healed!

If you’re not sure, feel free to email me with the details, and I’ll help you figure out if you're ready for that hoop!

Can I be turned down for a piercing?

Yes, but it’s always with your safety in mind!

I reserve the right to turn down a service at any time, and there are a few reasons this might happen. For example:

  • You might not have the right ID or meet the minor policy requirements

  • Your anatomy might not be the best fit for the piercing you want

  • An existing piercing may not be healed enough

  • I may not have enough time to do the piercing properly

  • Or sometimes, it just might not be the right call at the moment

I make these decisions carefully to ensure safety for everyone — you included. If you're ever unsure, just ask! I'm more than happy to walk you through it.

Will you cover the cost of lost jewelry?

I really hope you never lose a piece, but I know accidents happen — don’t worry, I’ve got you covered for a while.

Here’s how my Lost Jewelry Policy works:

  • If your jewelry becomes loose and is lost within 2 days, I’ll replace it 100% free of charge (some pieces may need to be custom ordered).

  • If it’s lost within 2 weeks, I’ll cover 50% of the replacement cost.

  • After 2 weeks, I can no longer offer any coverage.

To use this policy, you’ll need to show proof of purchase.

Helpful tip:
If you’ve bumped or snagged threadless jewelry, be sure to check that the end is securely pushed into the post — this can help prevent future losses!

How much does a piercing cost?

The total cost depends on two things: the service and the jewelry you choose.
Piercing service fees vary based on the type of piercing and the time and skill involved. Jewelry prices range depending on the material and the craftsmanship.

Your total cost = Piercing Fee + Jewelry
